Spot on with your analysis there, fansofbands. This is not a song that is mocking religion in general but on the charlatans that arise in most faiths. The television evangelists that preach about how to live your life and yet behind the scenes are morally corrupt and "sinful." The line "Do as i say don't do as I do" is the perfect example.
